Capgemini is a global leader in consulting, technology services and digital transformation, and is at the forefront of innovation to address the entire breadth of clients’ opportunities in the evolving world of cloud, digital, and platforms. It is an organisation that exists out of different sub-brands that are originally working individually. Therefore the question arose at Capgemini to create a concept that improves the interdisciplinary collaboration between all individual business units and increases the dynamic within the organisation.
To set the scene, OCS+ organized different workshops with different layers within the organisation. Those workshops were not only focusing on what people would wish to have in their new working environment but also what is not necessary to have in their new working environment anymore. Together with an interdisciplinary team of Capgemini, a new concept was developed that accurately integrated everybody’s wishes and needs.
To put this concept into practice, a big open environment within Capgemini’s office is divided into three different areas that gradually merges into each other. The central zone of this concept has a big focus on Capgemini’s brand identity. The most important and influential factors of its identity are at the forefront of the design. This identity-focused design is combined with furniture that increases knowledge-sharing between colleagues. In Thus, employees are inspired to work along with the most important aspects of the brand identity. The second zone in this concept is focused on informal and formal interaction. A new pantry is created, with high round tables and different social hubs that naturally increase engagement between people. Third, a zone is created that specifically focuses on collaboration between employees. This zone has e.g. a video-conference room, creative project rooms, and scrum rooms. Creating such an environment makes collaborating not only easier, but also more comfortable and more attractive.
The main goal of this concept is to stimulate employees to move between different spaces in the office. This will ultimately result in more creativity and more innovation within Capgemini. Different tasks can be executed in different postures and settings in one single environment. Subsequently, this contributes to different ways of interaction between employees and creates a healthy and comfortable working environment.
The final result offers Capgemini a better distribution of its capacity. Regularly, people were not able to comfortably work or meet with each other at busy hours. This was mainly caused by the inflexibility of the old working environment. The new working environment offers much more flexibility and lets people feel at home.
Originally, OCS+ and Capgemini decided to develop the second floor of this building. Although, the satisfaction with this new concept of Capgemini’s employees led to the development of new concepts at different other floors of this building. OCS+ already started to create new concepts to make this building more inspiring, dynamic and comfortable for employees and visitors.
